After her speech, President Arroyo took the opportunity to sign the executive order which launched GIGA or the Generating Investments in Geothermal Sites in the country. “It is in this green and beautiful place, that I am signing this administrative order,” the President noted. She also cited the Covenant Mountain as an example of what the Filipinos can do when the nation embraces sustainable development.
The EO signing was scheduled at the Philippine National Oil Corp. (PNOC) Geothermal Power Plant located at the slopes of Mt. Apo in Kidapawan, North Cotabato. The presidential chopper, however, was not able to fly to the site due to unfavorable weather conditions in the area. A media conference followed inside Martha’s Vineyard Restaurant where the President answered several questions concerning significant issues in the country at present.

When asked about the spiritual implication of the first presidential visit to the Covenant Mountain and Prayer Center, Pastor Apollo said, “The Almighty Father has revealed to me before that whoever comes to the Covenant Mountain (and Prayer Center) will be blessed. And if there’s somebody that I wanted to be blessed, that is the President; that’s why I am very happy that she was able to visit the place and had the chance to relax after a very long and hectic schedule,” Pastor Apollo said before the media after the presidential chopper took off.

Pastor Apollo added that the President promised to go back to the Covenant Mountain and Prayer Center in the future and said she will go there directly to rest every time she comes to Davao City. He also said that the President inquired if the Covenant Mountain can house the delegates of international functions like the APEC or ASEAN Summit, hinting a possibility of making the Covenant Mountain a possible venue for the said occasions in the future. |
