The Message of
Deliverance

Moses was called by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt in the great Exodus, which means ‘departure.’

The Exodus has meaning in our lives today.  To the Israelites, it was a physical departure; to us it is spiritual.  But the spiritual interpretation is more important today, because God and His spirit looks at the spiritual things and this is what He will bless in these last days.

The Israelites were led out of Egypt, delivered from bondage by the hand of God.  We see in Exodus chapters 13 to 14, a picture of our modern day salvation. We were rescued from the bondage of sin and delivered by the Blood of the Lamb of God who was crucified on the cross.  When He made the atonement, the blood dropped from His side, from His hand, from His feet; and from the crown of thorns around His head.  It is this blood that John the Baptist says cleanses or takes away the sins of the world.

When God calls you out from sin, He will give you a guide. I am given to you as your guide, just as Moses in Egypt was given to become the guide for the children of Israel.  But only once in a while in our time today will God give a Pastor and anoint him with His oil like Paul, Moses, the Apostles, the prophets, who all had a unique calling in their lives.   We see so many pastors today in denominations, on the radio, on TV, all claiming to be pastors just because they can teach and preach, but their messages cannot change the heart of man.

Deliverance from Egypt

God’s anointed servants are always sent with a message and that message is always a message of deliverance. Moses was sent to Pharaoh to say, “Let my people go!” The power of God went with the Israelites and they had a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night to guide them. Where it went they followed.  That was how God dealt with His people in those days, and he is dealing in the same way with His people even in our time today.

Now, do not think that when God calls you, you will no longer have problems.  Do not ask for all your problems to disappear.  That is a dangerous thing to ask.  A Chinese proverb says, “Be careful what you ask for you might just get it.”  There was a man who said, “Lord I don’t want to have problems anymore.  Please take away all my problems.”  The next day, he died.  Don’t you know that people who have no more problems are those who are buried six feet deep in the cemetery?

If you are child of God, what the Lord will actually do is to strengthen you so that you will be able to face all your problems.  If your problem weighs one hundred kilos, the Father will also add one hundred kilos of strength to you.  If you have a debt now, He will not get rid of your debt; He will give you the money so that you can pay your debts.

Now, Pharaoh decided that he shouldn’t let the Israelites go. He sent the Egyptian army and pursued them with six hundred chariots to bring them back into bondage and slavery.  The children of Israel saw that they were being pursued by the armies of Pharaoh and depression came upon them.  They were afraid.  Fearing Pharaoh had become a habit to them.   Today, Satan is the Pharaoh in your life.  The Lord will remove you from Satan, but he will pursue you.  He will not let go of you that easily, but do not be afraid.   When you are a child of God, the power of God envelops you; the power of the enemy can do nothing to get you. Do not be afraid, do not be depressed.   Stand up by faith and say, “My faith in the Lord strengthens the more.”  Instead of pouting, pray.  Instead of frowning, pray.

Now, instead of thanking God, the physical Israelites complained.  They accused Moses, “We were better off as slaves than to be in the grave. Are there graves in the wilderness that you have prepared for us? Better take us back to Egypt.  You brought us here to be killed by Pharaoh!”  Their hearts became bitter. They blamed the Lord. They focused on their problems and they forgot God’s promises.

What are God’s promises?  He says, “Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.”  (Luke 11:9) When I need something, I do not go to man, I immediately go to God.   Go to the Father in heaven and tell Him, “Lord this is what I need.” Even if the answer takes a long time coming, it will come in the midst of circumstances that seem to be very impossible to the human eye.   Go to the altar and ask the Lord the thing that your heart desires, and He will give it to you.

Don’t you know that seventy percent of God’s parables talks about your finances? That is because the Lord is very interested in blessing you.  He does not want you to gravel in the sand like a beggar because you are a child of God. He wants Himself to be honored by the way you live.

God’s Three-Point Message

Moses had a three-point message from God for the Israelites.  First:  “Fear not!  Do not be afraid!”

You, who are afraid right now, do not fear!  The Lord has plenty of answers for your prayers. Make it a habit to pray to Him every day.  The problem with Filipinos is that they pray to a leaden God.  I cannot pray to wood. I cannot pray to stone.  It is like praying to the dead.   The Bible says, “God is a spirit and those that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” (Jn 4:24)

The 2nd message Moses had for the Israelites was: “Stand still!”

Stand still, do not panic, do not fear, hold on or be steadfast!  This was exactly the opposite of what the Israelites wanted to do. They wanted to panic.  They wanted to complain.  They wanted to be scattered, and they wanted to run in all directions.

You who are in panic right now because of your problems, stand still…do not panic. This is a call from fear to faith.  Let your faith be steadfast.

And then the third message was: “See the salvation of the Lord!”

You can only see that with the eyes of faith because faith sees the unseen.  That is why the Lord wants us to have the soul of faith because when we have this, we have a connection to the Almighty God who is the invisible God. You are able to anticipate the ‘more’ of God. Your fear will disappear when faith enters!

Fear was changed into faith when they heard the word of the Lord.  It is important for you to come and always hear the word of the Lord. Whether it is raining, there is lightning, thundering, it is flooding, come and hear the Words of God. Remember that, “Faith cometh by hearing the Word of God.” (Rom 10:17)

And the Lord gave them the greatest miracle, something that they did not expect.  The waters of the Red Sea parted and Moses said, “Go forward!”  Now, “Go forward” seemed to be a contradiction. The enemy was just behind.  There were mountains on the left and on the right, and in front was the big Red Sea. How could they move forward?  When problems encircle you, do not fear! Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord!  This is when we will we see the big miracles happen!

When you hear the good news, your Red Sea is broken!  You enter and you become a child of God. You are delivered from sin.  You met Jesus Christ and learned that He was crucified on the cross so that you can have a new spirit.

He said, “Except a man be born of water and of the spirit he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.” (Jn 3:5)  If you have accepted the new spirit, then you are the true Jew.  You are the true child of God.

You mighty say, “But Pastor, I have a religion.”  Religion will never save you.  So many religious persons are angry with me over this but still I say this over and over again. If you have not repented; if you have not died together with Him, you will not enter into the Kingdom of heaven.

What kind of death do you want, since we all will die?   Do you want the death of a tuberculosis patient?  The death of a cancer patient? Death by starvation? Me? I have chosen to die together with Christ.

How will you repent? I repented by saying, “From now on I promise not my will but your will be done in my life.”  When I promised that, my old will died, that is the old me, that is my old self.  It died with Him, through repentance and because I died, I have reason to be buried. Jesus Christ was buried, and when you identify yourself with the burial of Christ, you are baptized in His name by immersion in water.

When you get out of the water, you will have that new spirit. You are a new creature called “born-again.”  If before you were a great smoker, now no more; if you were a great drinker, now no more; if you were a great thief, now no more. There is a song that goes, “It was a grand day when I was born again…the things I used to do, I do them no more!” That is why there is new in life.

Christianity has failed to change people’s hearts.  Jesus Christ said, “Not every one who call unto me Lord, Lord, shall enter the Kingdom of God, but those who doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven” (Matt 7:21)   Now when you face God in judgment, there is only one simple question that will be asked of you, “Did you obey the will of the Father?”

Some say, “The religion I was born with is the religion I will die with.”  That will not bring you to heaven and each one of us will face heaven, one by one.

Song of the Redeemed

Enter the parted waters of the Red Sea, which is your salvation.   If you are from religion, denomination, sin…that is Egypt and you are one of the people delivered by God

Pharaoh’s forces were drawn and then Israel was given a song. It was the song of the redeemed.  What was this song?  ‘The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?’ (Psa 27:1)

If you are in bondage now, the Lord will come to you. If you are struggling with anger, longing for it to cease; struggling with alcohol, longing for release; struggling with anxiety, longing for peace,  Jesus Christ when he died on the cross came and said “Peace be still!” He will give you peace and your struggling will cease because there is help from the Lord!

“The Lord is my song, Lord, who is like thee?  Glorious in holiness, cheerful in praises, doing wonders.”  When God becomes your song, not just the supreme Lord, but also your Savior and your Redeemer and your King, then you will feel there is joy unspeakable in your heart, and peace that passes all understanding.  You will know what I am talking about if this heart is in you.

So when you are able to dig into the blessings of God, first of all, He will give you spiritual blessings. You are a slave of your debts, you are a slave of other people, you are a slave of Satan, you are a slave of sin, you are a slave of vices.  Now, the Lord will take you away from all that and you will be born again in the spirit, and you will dance and sing, like me.   You will become a child of God.  The Kingdom of God will become the salvation of your life.  He is the King here.  You will be able to sing with us former slaves of Egypt.   We have been set free from slavery.  Our enemies have perished.  We shall have a similar song.  And we will continue to walk in the Lord, until we see that Holy City, the New Jerusalem.
